The UK Ordnance Survey have amended their developer agreement for their OpenSpace API. Released in January 2008, this API is a free service that allows mash-ups of Ordnance Survey mapping. The main changes reflect the fact that much of the API is now available as an open-source download. These can be found on SourceForge.Net as the OSGB Web Map Tools.
Other changes include clarifications of data ownership. The full press release can be found here: This can only be good news. The Ordnance Survey have some of the best maps in the world. Although they tend to lead the world when it comes to digital maps, their pricing structure restrict their use to large companies and local government. Greater availability and a free API can only increase their use.
